Dutch oil and gas company Royal Dutch Shell will open two more gas stations next month. One station will be on Jl. S. Parman (West Jakarta) and the other will be in Warung Buncit (South Jakarta), Investor Daily newspaper reported in its Friday edition.

?These two will be in addition to our earlier gas station in Karawaci. We are still be selling non-subsidized fuel like Super Shell and Extra Super Shell,? Shell Indonesia?s vice president for external affairs and business development, Wally Saleh, said after the launching of Shell?s Helix campaign of ?Clean, Fresh and Like the New One always? in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Wally, Shell will build six more gas stations in Indonesia throughout the year because Shell wants to continuously develop the business opportunities that are available here. The only thing that became a problem is, Wally said, Shell is yet to have its own storage unit. Due to this, Shell must import all the fuel which it sells in Indonesia from the Netherlands.

?It?s a risky investment and we will continue (our business) in line with the economic condition in the future. Hopefully, our success will bring us support. We must fight for investment because Shell has different investment needs in different countries,? Wally said.

However he didn?t mention how big the total investment of Shell in the retail business in Indonesia. Wall said the investment will depend upon the location, land and other factors. The company is currently focusing on Jakarta, Tangerang, Bogor and Bekasi areas. Shell is considering to expand its business to all over Indonesia if the business is profitable. (*)
