Shooting incident at Freeport area, no casualty

A convoy of trailer trucks was shot by unidentified people on Friday at the area of the giant gold and copper producer PT Freeport Indonesia in Papua, Kompas daily reported Saturday.

Papua Police Spokesman Sulistio Pudjo said that the incident took place at about 1.30 p.m. local time at mile 41. The trucks were on its way from Timika to Tembagapura. There was no casualty from the incident.

A similar shooting incident occurred earlier in the month, not far from the location of the Friday shooting incident, Kompas said. (*)
