PT UPC Renewables Indonesia said its 75 MW wind power plant (PLTB) project in Sidrap, South Sulawesi, is now targeted to start operation in the first quarter (Q1) of 2018.

?The construction is in progress. It was initially targeted to begin operation at the end of 2017, but for sure it would be in the first quarter of next year,? said UPC Renewables Engineer, Eduardus Jonathan Sutanto to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

He said that part of the required turbines for the US$180 million power plant project has arrived at the project location. The company acquires the turbines from Spain?s Gamesa.

?There will be around 30 turbines to be used with utility scale each of 2.5 MW. Some have been delivered,? he said.

The project is being developed by PT UPC Sidrap Bayu Energi, a joint venture between UPC Renewables Indonesia, PT Binatek Terbarukan, and SunEdison.

The power purchase agreement was signed with state-owned electricity firm PLN on August 19, 2015, under which the electricity will be sold to PLN at a tariff of 11 US cents per kWh.
