PT Siemens Indonesia said it will supply various components for gas turbine mobile power plants (MPP) with combined capacity of 500 MW to be developed by state-owned ship maker PT PAL Indonesia.

Head of Utility Division and Corporate Account for PLN & Subsidiaries Siemens Indonesia, Venantius Ivan Sutanto said on Wednesday that under the plan, Siemens will cooperate with state-owned component makers PT Barata and PT Pindad.

The cooperation between Siemens and the two state firms will help increase capacity of the local firms in increasing so-called local content in domestic power plant projects, he added.

?We?re cooperating with Barata, Pindad, and PAL for the supply of power plant (MPP) components such as gas turbine, generator, and engineering design, project management, and human resources development,? Ivan said on the sidelines of the 2017 Electric, Power and Renewable Energy Indonesia exhibition in Jakarta.

He said that the MPPs, which will be operated by PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB), a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, will be developed in 13 remote locations in Sumatra, Sulawesi, Papua, Maluku and Madura.

As a pilot project, a 50 MW MPP will be developed in Banda Aceh, Aceh Province.

Ivan said that Siemens will allocate investment of between Rp 5-7 trillion for the planned projects, expected to be realized in 2019.
