Sihayo appoints new CEO

ASX-listed Sihayo Gold Limited announced on Tuesday the appointment of Malcolm Paterson as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director effective from June 1, 2017.

The company said in a statement that Malcolm was most recently the CEO of PT Kasongan Bumi Kencana (KBK), part of the Pelsart Group. KBK has successfully developed and commissioned the Mirah gold and silver project in Indonesia?s Central Kalimantan. ?The operating model put in place at the Mirah mine, from construction through operations, is a full ?Owners Operator? approach and over the past five years this has resulted in Mirah being one of the most cost efficient gold mines in the region,? the statement said.

Malcolm has also developed and operated other projects in Indonesia, Australia and Africa, the company said. He is a metallurgist by training and through his involvement with Signet Engineering Pty Ltd and Green Gold Technology Pty Ltd he is a leading expert in the resin based process (RECYNTM) for recycling cyanide and detoxifying gold plant tailings.

Sihayo owns a 75 percent interest in the Sihayo Pungkut Gold Project in North Sumatra Province.
