Sinarmas LDA Maritime has launched two new tugboats, SLM Ulysse 3 and SLM Ulysse 5, at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard in China, marking a milestone in the expansion of its fleet.

The launching ceremony was held on July 31 and attended by representatives of Sinarmas LDA Maritime, CGO and Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard.

The company said the launch marks the completion of the hull construction phase, with both vessels now entering the final outfitting stage before being delivered for commercial operations.

Sinarmas LDA Maritime said the addition of the two tugboats reflects its commitment to strengthening its fleet and providing maritime services focused on reliability, safety and operational quality.

SLM Ulysse 3 is a newly built tugboat with IMO number 1112769. It was launched alongside its sister vessel, SLM Ulysse 5, as part of the company's fleet expansion program.

Sinarmas LDA Maritime is a joint venture between Indonesia's Sinar Mas and France's Louis Dreyfus Armateurs through Pacemar, providing integrated maritime logistics and shipping services.

Tugboats are typically used to assist larger vessels during berthing and unberthing operations, tow barges and other non self propelled vessels, escort ships through ports and narrow waterways, and provide support during marine emergency and offshore operations.
