Singapore firm bags E. Kalimantan coal mining contract

Singaporean company KTH Mining Engineering Pte Ltd (KTH) had bagged a contract worth S$41 million over a period of 3 years by PT Kalimantan Citra Bara for the removal of overburden, extraction of coal and transportation of coal to a designated terminal in East Kalimantan, parent company said.

Newly established KTH is a joint venture between crane and heavy equipment supplier firm Tat Hong Holdings Ltd (45%) and Kok Tong Construction Pte Ltd (55%).

KTH is expected to commence work on the contract from May 1, 2005.

Tat Hong will assist in the procurement and maintenance of all the equipment for the project while Kok Tong will provide the personnel and expertise to carry out the operations.

?The Directors of Tat Hong believe the joint-venture company is in line with the company?s strategy of expanding its presence in the region?s mining sector. KTH will be exploring opportunities to secure contracts of a similar nature in the mining industry,? said Tat Hong in an announcement. Tuesday. (alex)
