Power Gas Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Power, has initiated and spearheaded the formation of the Gas Association of Singapore to foster alliance among local gas players, Singapore Power said Tuesday.

"The strategic alliance will generate wider participation of corporations and firms in the local gas industry at international events," SP was quoted by Platts as saying.

"In addition, GAS aims to foster closer friendship; co-operation and reciprocity among organizations/professionals involved in gas/gas-related activities, and promote uniformity of practices and standards in the industry," it added.

GAS was formed with the aim of bringing like-minded professionals from the oil and gas industry to advance and exchange their knowledge and learning in gas-related matters, SP said.

GAS will help Singapore establish a stronger presence in the regional gas hub, said Wong Toon Suan, president of GAS. T

The association has already received accreditation as well as active support from key local gas industrial players. Among its members are Singapore Petroleum Co, Caltex Corp Singapore, BP Asia Pacific Gas & Power and PowerGas Ltd. GAS will soon make its debut at the forthcoming GASEX Conference and Exhibition (GASEX 2002) in Brunei Darussalam in May.(*)
