?If the Singaporean company wants to demand a compensation, it should go to the gas suppliers such ConocoPhillips or PetroChina through BP Migas,? Pertamina?s spokesman Ridwan Nyak Baik was quoted as saying by the daily.
Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore-based Gas Supply Pte Ltd Tan Chin Tung told Dow Jones that the company would demand a cash compensation from Pertamina for the delay in the transmission of the gas to the neighboring country through the newly operated Grissik-Singapore gas pipeline.
?The gas transmission has been delayed for nearly one month from the initial schedule. We will be therefore calculating how much we would ask the compensation for the delay,? he was quoted as saying.
President Megawati and Singapore?s Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong officially inaugurated the operation of the 470 kilometer-gas pipeline on Aug 4 in Batam to mark the start of the gas supply.
The gas pipeline is operated by state owned gas distribution company Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN).
PGN?s president director WMP Simanjuntak however denied that if there was a delay in the transmission of the gas to Singapore through the newly operated gas pipeline.
?The gas even reached Singapore two months earlier than the initial schedule,? he told Kompas daily. He added that the delay could only occur if the gas transmission was made after the Nov. 12 deadline.
According to the existing contract, PGN has the time range of August 12 or November 12 to deliver the gas. PGN started sending the gas on Sept. 3. (*)
