The Singapore Trade Development Board (STDB) has expressed interest to develop the long-delayed Tanjung Api-api shipping port in South Sumatra, the Republika daily reported Monday.
The paper said that STDB wants to be paid with coal from the province.
The paper said that STDB officials met with provincial Governor Rosihan Arsyad and president of the state-owned coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam Ismet Harmaini last week.
Bukit Asam was ready to supply coal to Singapore, Republika said.
The development of the Tanjung Api-api port would help boost local exports including coal.(*)
