PT Sintra Power Elektrik inaugurated on Tuesday its transformer production plant in Cikarang, West Java, marking the maiden production of the power equipment.

President Director Yohanes Purnawan Widjaja said there are few companies producing high voltage transformers in Indonesia at present. ?Now, PT Sintra proudly is proudly able to produce such equipment. Our motto is ?Proudly Made in Indonesia?,? he said during the inauguration ceremony.

The plant will produce transformers with a capacity of 100 MVA, voltage of 150 kV and an annual production capacity of 25 units for state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and 15 units for other sectors of industry, Yohanes said.

?We believe this is the right time to enter the market. The growth of the transformer market reaches 75 percent,? Yohanes said.

The firm invested US$20 million to develop the plant, he said, adding SPE has been established to meet the market demand as a result of the rapid development of infrastructures and energy, which is the fruit of the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla administration?s economic programs.

Yohanes said SPE?s customers include PLN and other industries such as mining, paper and metal.
