Siregar quits PT Inco

Arief Siregar, President Director of IDX-listed nickel miner PT. International Nickel Indonesia (Inco) said he has tended resignation from the company.

Arief said starting this month he will no longer be responsible on PT Inco?s management.

According to Arief, PT Inco?s controlling shareholder Vale SA has agreed on his resignation provided that he stayed as PT Inco?s Board of Commissioners.

He, however, said that he would stay in the company until shareholders? meeting would be held in March.

He said reason for his resignation was disappointment over prolonged nickel ore supply deal with IDX-listed state miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk. ?I have promised Antam that negotiation would be completed by the end of December 2009, but it did not happen,? he said without giving further detail.

Antam needs ore supply from PT Inco to feed its ferronickel plant in Pomalaa, SE Sulawesi.

He said he did not know who his successor would be and he would not give recommendation. (bernard/godang)
