Six foreign investors to develop power plants

Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Franky Sibarani said that as of end of 2014, there were six foreign investors which have expressed interest to build power plants outside Java to support planned industrial zones.

Kompas said that of the six foreign investors two are from South Korea, two from China, one from Japan, and one from Portugal.

The government has set a target of developing 13 industrial zones outside Java in the 2015-2019 period. To support the industrial zones, 16 power plants must be developed in regions such as Kuala Tanjung (North Sumatra), Konawe (Southeast Sulawesi), and Bengkayang (West Kalimantan)

Total investment requirement is estimated at about Rp 10.5 trillion, Franky said. (*)
