Six gas sales and purchase agreements signed

A number of companies signed on Thursday six gas sales and purchase agreements (GSPA) for a combined supply of 915.22 tbtu.?

J. Widjonarko, interim Chairman of upstream authority SKK Migas, said the six GSPAs are expected to generate US$2.28 billion in the state revenue.

?We expects supports fro all parties so that the gas supplies based on the GSPA can be carried out and the potential state revenue can be realized,? Widjonarko said in his speech during the signing ceremony.

The six agreement include one aimed to support the lifting of oil in Sumatra, one aimed to meet the needs of fertilizer firm in East Java, one aimed to support the electricity sector in East Kalimantan, one aimed to supply gas for petrochemical industry in Sulawesi, and two aimed to meet the gas needs of the electricity sector on Batam Island.

?Thus, all the gas supplies under the GSPA are allocated for the domestic market,? Widjonarko said.

He said gas allocation for the domestic market has been increasing by an average 9 percent per year since 2003. In 2013, gas allocation for the domestic market reached 3.774 bbtud or around 52.1 percent of the total gas supply. It was higher than that the domestic gas allocation in 2012, which reached 3,550 bbtud or 49.5 percent of the total gas supplies of the year.

Gas allocation for the domestic market this year rose again. Based on the contract in 2014, gas allocation for the domestic market reached 3,782 bbtud or 52.7 percent of the contract commitment.
