Six investors eyeing CBM in Indonesia

Six investors have proposed a joint study on the development of working areas of coal-bed methane (CBM) to the government.
The six investors are consortium PT Medco-PT Energi Pasir Hitam (Ephindo), PT Pertamina EP, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk-Santos, Vico Indonesia, PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA), and TransAsia Resources.
Upstream Director at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources R.Priyono said out of the six interested companies, Medco-Ephindo was the most ready to develop the CBM because the consortium had already completed its joint study.
Priyono said that the bid for working areas of CBM would be held next month.
On the same occasion Director General of Oil and Gas of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Luluk Sumiarso said that the working area to be developed is the one owned by Medco, which enables the company to start exploration activities soon and hopefully, the production plan can be realized in the near term.
