Six oil, gas fields to begin production next year

As many as six oil and gas fields are expected to begin commercial production next year, with crude oil production of 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) and gas production of 500 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd), Kontan reported on Monday.

SKSP Migas, the government?s special unit replacing the now defunct BPMIGAS, estimated that the new production would be able to halt the fall in the country?s oil and gas production to 5 percent from the initial estimate of 12 percent.

The six fields include the Sumpul oil field in South Sumatra, which is operated by Conoco Philips. The field is expected to produce gas of between 42 and 47 mmscfd. The second field is Pearl Energy?s Ruby in East Kalimantan, which is expected to produce oil of between 80 and 82 bpd and gas between 20 and 82 mmcfd, while the third field is Chevron Pacific Indonesia?s North Duri Area 13 in Riau which will produce oil of about 17,000 bpd. The fourth is Pertamina EP?s Gundih in Central Java with oil production of between 239 and 470 bpd and gas production of between 25 and 50 mmscfd. Tateky NV?s Budi field in South Sumatra will also begin production next year with oil output level of 1,500 bpd, and Odira Energy?s Ridho in South Sumatra with oil production of 1,800 bpd.

Several new fields began their commercial production in the fourth quarter of this year, earlier than the initial schedule. They include Total EP & Indonesie?s South Mahakam I in East Kalimantan with oil production of 12,509 bpd and gas production of between 106 and 130 mmscfd; Total EP & Indonesie?s South Mahakam II in East Kalimantan with oil production of between 1,609 and 4,108 bpd and gas production of between 77 and 120 mmscfd, and Pertamina EP?s Pondok Makmur in West Java with oil production of 4,000 bpd.(*)
