SKK Migas issues guideline on EOR

Upstream authority SKK Migas has issued a work guideline for the implementation of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) program.

The EOR guideline, called Pedoman Tata Kerja (PTK) -058/SKKO0000/2015/S0, has four purposes: first, to explain how to enhance supervision and control by SKK Migas over the execution of EOR pilot projects by PSC holders; secondly, to explain how proposals on EOR pilot projects should be made in details; thirdly, to explain how EOR pilot project proposal documents would be evaluated more efficiently and effectively; fourthly, to explain the procedures that all functions of SKK Migas and PSC holders should follow in carrying out EOR pilot projects, SKK Migas said in a statement on Monday.

SKK Migas said it is holding a campaign to inform stakeholders on the EOR guideline.

EOR can be carried in several methods, including by injection steam, chemicals etc. Each field has a method suitable for itself. Thus far, EOR program has been implemented in one field only, that is Duri field in Riau, using steam injection method. Besides, there are pilot projects ongoing at several fields, namely Minas, Kaji, Tanjung, Widuri, Old Rimau. Meanwhile, studies on and preparations are being carried at 11 fields, namely Limau, Pedada, Rama, Melibur, Rantau Z-600, Kenali Asam, Tempino, Bangko, Bekasap, Balam South, and Gemah, SKK Migas said.
