A new barge floating production unit (FPU) for the Jangkrik and Jangkrik North East Gas Field Development in Muara Bakau PSC, East Kalimantan, is expected to sail away from the Karimun Yard in Riau Province to the field at the end of March of this year.

Eko Hariadi, Head of the Jangkrik Project Development Unit at the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the regulatory body has been informed that preparations are now in progress to start commissioning of the Jangkrik FPU prior to the sail away.

?Overall progress (of the FPU construction) has reached 91.6 percent until last week. Hopefully, the sail away can be made at the end of March 2017,? he said.

PT Saipem Indonesia, a subsidiary of Italian firm Saipem S.p.A, and PT Chiyoda International Indonesia, a subsidiary of Japanese firm Chiyoda Corporation, won the EPCI-1 contract for the Jangkrik FPU in February of 2014.

Saipem and Chiyoda collaborate with PT Tripatra Engineering and Construction and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (HHI) for the project with Saipem as the leader.

The topsides fabrication activities of the FPU had been carried out in Saipem?s Karimun Yard, in Riau Province, Indonesia, while the hull were fabricated in HHI?s shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. The top sides was integrated with the hull in December at the Saipem Karimun Yard.

The new-build spread-moored FPU will have the capacity to treat 450MMSCFD of gas plus condensates (LPG). Gas produced by the FPU will be delivered through the existing East Kalimantan Pipeline facilities to Bontang LNG Plants, which were constructed by Chiyoda.

The Jangkrik project covers two fields in Muara Bakau PSC, namely Jangkrik and Jangkrik North East fields. Eni is the operator of the block with a 55 percent working interest, whereas the other JV partners are GDF Suez Exploration Indonesia, a subsidiary of ENGIE, formerly GDF SUEZ, with 33.334 percent stake and Saka Energi Muara Bakau with 11.666 percent stake.
