Upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) signed on Friday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop an integrated information system for the management of state revenue and assets in the upstream oil and gas sector.

SKK Migas stated in a press release on Friday that the MoU was signed by SKK Migas Acting Chairman J. Widjonarko and MOF?s Budget Director General Askolani at the ministry?s headquarters in Jakarta on Friday.

Finance Minister Muhamad Chatib Basri, who witnessed the MoU signing, said that the integrated information system will not only make technical jobs easier, but it will also help all institutions concerned in the process of taking decisions.

?If data can be provided on real time, then there will be many decisions that can be taken faster and more accurate,? he added.

Currently, each of SKK Migas and MoF units has their own system of information according to their respective tasks and authorities. With the integrated system, data from SKK Migas can be integrated with data from the management units under the MoF, including directorate general of budget, taxes, customs and excise, treasury, and state assets.

?The integrated information system will also help develop a transparency,? said Askolani.

J. Widjonarko said that the integrated information system will help his institution to respond quickly any question raised by regional administrations concerning the distribution of state income from the oil and gas sector.

?By setting up the integrated system, we hope our coordination will be getting better,? he concluded.
