SKK Migas praises Pertamina?s LNG import plan

Upstream authority SKK Migas appreciates plans by state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina to import LNG for its LNG terminals, saying it will add to gas supplies on the domestic market and enable the firm to resell it in export market.

?Pertamina?s step to import LNG will secure supplies for Pertamina. In case there is a demand for gas, Pertamina may export the LNG,? SKK Migas? Deputy for Commercial Control Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja told Petromindo.com on Thursday.

Pertamina is reportedly approaching LNG producers in Qatar, Singapore and the United States to supply LNG for the terminals it is going to build in the country, including the Arun regassification plant in Aceh, FSRUs in Java and LNG mini terminals in eastern Indonesia.

State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara is also interested to import LNG for its power plants.

Hari Karyuliarto, Director of Gas and Power at Pertamina said on Thursday the LNG to be imported from the US will be sold to various buyers.

?It?s for multi destinations,? Hari said.
