Upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas said that the Tangguh LNG plant expansion project is currently at the stage of preparation for construction process.

?It?s still at the preparation stage for construction phase ? such as camp for workers, bridges, roads, etc,? said Agoes Sapto Raharjo, Head of Supervision and Acceleration of the Tangguh Train 3 Project at SKK Migas, to Petromindo.com on Friday, but did not provide further details.

The Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua Province, operated by British energy giant BP, currently has two LNG trains, each with capacity of 3.8 million tons per annum. The company is planning to develop a third 3.8 mtpa-capacity train in an expansion project known as Tangguh Train 3 project.

In August of this year, the company announced that the Onshore LNG Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of the project has been awarded to a consortium led by PT Tripatra, which teams up with Chiyoda, Saipem and Suluh Ardhi Engineering.

Meanwhile, the Offshore GPF Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) has been awarded to PT Saipem Indonesia.

BP said in August that the construction of the Tangguh Train 3 project will be started at the end of this year, and first production projected in 2020.
