SKK Migas recommends extension of PHE?s ONWJ block contract

Upstream authority SKK Migas will recommend to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for the extension of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi?s (PHE) contract over the Offshore North West Java (ONWJ) block when its expires in 2017.

SKK Migas Acting Chairman Johanes Widjonarko was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia daily Friday as saying that his office is currently in the process of completing the recommendation for the extension of the contract, which hopefully could be submitted to the government later this year.

Widjonarko said that the extension of PHE?s contract is expected to help further increase production at the block.

PHE took over operatorship of the ONWJ block from BP in 2009. Since then production has been increasing to current level of around 40,000 bpd, from 22,000 bpd in 2009. (*)
