SKK Migas seeks military’s help to secure upstream assets

The upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas is seeking for the assistance of the Indonesian Military (TNI) to help secure upstream assets particularly those considered as strategic projects.

SKK Migas said in a statement obtained Wednesday that SKK Migas Chairman Dwi Soetjipto met on Monday with TNI Chief Air Chief Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto at the TNI headquarters in relation to the signing of an MOU for cooperation in ensuring security for upstream oil and gas activities 

During the meeting, Dwi presented the condition of the country’s upstream oil and gas sector, security problem faced by oil and gas contractors, and various cooperation efforts with the TNI to help secure upstream oil and gas activities. 

SKK Migas said that with regards to strategic upstream projects, Dwi appealed to the TNI chief to provide special support to ensure security as these projects will ensure the country’s oil and gas production. 

The TNI chief promised to help provide security for upstream assets through the strengthening of the TNI’s territorial activities including through cooperation in using offshore platforms to be installed with remote surveillance camera.
