SKK Migas to digitalize oil, gas data

Upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas said that it will gradually convert all sub-surface data possessed by oil and gas contractors operating in the country into digital format.

SKK Migas Deputy Chairman M. I. Zikrullah said on Monday that the digitalization of the data is expected to help improve investment climate in the country?s oil and gas sector.

?All sub-surface data held by production sharing contractors must be also held by SKK Migas to be then digitalized gradually,? he said.

He said that oil and gas data transferred to the government since 1960s till 1990s were still in the form of hard copy. He added that SKK Migas will team up with the Geological Agency at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to provide national geological master data.
