SKK Migas to field staff to speed up project development

Upstream authority SKK Migas will stations its division heads in regions outside of Jakarta to establish good communication with people there so that the development of oil and gas projects can be accelerated.

?This is part of the efforts to accelerate all project execution process, from the signing of working area to the making of Plan of Development and coming onstream,? SKK Migas? Chairman Amien Sunaryadi at the Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) Convention & Exhibition.

Amien explained in the past, the lead time from discovery to production was quite short. Now, lead time from contract signing until discovery could be very long. ?What is interesting is that at present most discoveries of oil and gas are small in terms of reserve volume,? he said.

He said SKK Migas has identified that problem lies with the (regional) governments. By placing senior staff in the regions, SKK Migas expects the problem can be solved through a better communication with the regional governments so that project development can be accelerated.

?However, we are still waiting for a presidential regulation and ministerial regulation allow the implementation of the new policy,? he said.
