SKK Migas to increase production by 121,691 bopd in 2013

There are plans for this year to conduct drilling of 258 exploration wells, drilling of 1.178 development wells, work over of 1,094 production wells. Also there will be 2D seismic surveys covering 18.752 kilometer, 3D seismic survey covering 22,298 square kilometers as well as 7 non-seismic activities.
?So, all of the additional production from drilling of development wells, work over and well servicing this year will contribute about 14 percent of the total planned national oil production and 11 percent of the total national gas production this year (2013),? SKK Migas Operational Control Deputy Muliawan said during the coordination meeting of survey operation, drilling, and Work over 2013 in Bandung on Monday (11th February 2013).
In 2012, realization of development well drilling reached 840 wells, resulting in additional 46,250 barrels of oil per day and gas of 385 MMSCFD. Work over was conducted at 740 wells and well servicing at 11,323 wells which both had resulted in additional oil production of 43.250 BOPD and gas at 435 MMSCFD.
?So, the contribution of the total additional productions had amounted to 90.087 BOPD of oil and gas of 820 MMSCFD. ?The contribution of oil and gas from the development well drilling, work over and well servicing during last year reached 10 percent of the total oil and gas production in 2012,? he said.
SKK Migas said that to increase the oil and gas reserves, 2D seismic surveys convering 13,995 km, 3D seismic surveys covering 6,165 square km and 46 non-seismic activities had been conducted along the year 2012.
It added that during last year 119 exploration wells had been drilled, the highest achievement during the last 10 years.
Of the total 119 wells, 52 wells resulted in oil and gas discoveries totaling 541 million BOPD of oil and 5.4 TCF of gas, or about 1,4 billion BOEPD.
SKK Migas Chairman Rudi Rubiandini said that in order to increase oil and gas production then all the production sharing contractors are expected to apply not only secondary recovery, but should start to apply the technology of tertiary recovery from existing fields which see production in natural declining. ?They should emulate Medco which has applied the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) in its fields of Kaji Semoga, Rimau Asset in South Sumatera, and Chevron which has produced oil through the EOR higher than its primary wells,? he said.
He said that the SKK Migas is now working on a mechanism called ?no cure no pay? to encourage the contractors to apply the EOR to increase oil and gas production.
