SK Migas called on Malaysian oil and gas firm Genting Oil to expedite the development of the Asap field in the Kasuri Block in Papua. The caretaker oil and gas regulator expects that the development can start before 2015 so that production can be on stream in 2020.

?Submit the POD (plan of development) quickly, don?t wait until 2015. If possible, on stream before 2020,? Deputy for Planning at SK Migas, Widiyawan Prawiraatmadja told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

Widiyawan explained that Genting has requested for a schedule to meet with SK Migas to look into the drilling results of their wells, to be followed with certification of reserves, and afterward propose the POD.

Elsewhere, Widiyawan suggested Genting to look into the possibility of having joint facilities with BP Tangguh for its operation in Papua, although such prospect will have to wait until productions at Tangguh?s Train 1 and 2 facilities expire.

?The cooperation (having joint facilities) will have to wait for production at the Train 1 and 2 to decline (starting) around 2023. Or should (Genting) build a new train? I tend to wait for Train 1 and 2 expire then develop a new pipeline to flow gas to the Tangguh train,? Widiyawan said.

SK Migas also hopes that when Tangguh Train 3 facility, whose construction will start in 2014 and complete by 2018, Genting?s Kasuri Block will have already been on stream. ?If possible, Genting (Kasuri) on stream before 2020. That would be fantastic.?
