PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI), a state-owned firm under the Ministry of Finance specializing in providing funds for infrastructure projects, hopes the Rp 3.1 trillion worth of geothermal support fund (GSF) can start to be utilized in helping to finance geothermal projects in the country this year.

Darwin Trisna Djajawinata, a Director at SMI, told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that the required Minister of Finance regulation on the use of the GSF is currently being finalized at the ministry. ?We?re still waiting for the issuance of the minister of finance regulation which has entered final stage, hopefully (to be issued) not in long time. But I don?t know when it will be issued,? he said.

He added that so far not a single company has made proposal for the utilization of the GSF.

SMI announced the GSF in February of last year to support geothermal exploration and exploitation activities in the country.
