Soekarno-Hatta Airport to have own power plant

State-owned PT Angkasa Pura II, the operator of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, has signed a MoU with state-controlled gas distribution firm PT PGN Tbk, and state-controlled engineering and construction company PT Wijaya Karya Tbk, to develop a 60 MW gas-fired power plant.

Angkasa Pura II Director Budi Karya Sumadi said recently that the electricity will entirely be used for the operation of the airport.

He said that Angkasa Pura, which will have a 51 percent stake in the project, will be responsible in financing the estimated Rp 800 billion -Rp 900 billion project, while PGN will be in charge in supply the gas requirement.

Budi said that the feasibility study is expected to be completed within one or two months, and the power plant will be completed within a year as the company has allocated the land requirement.
