SOEs to build hydro power plants

The government will assign state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to develop four hydro power plants in East and Central Java, Kontan reported on Thursday.
The paper quoted Director General of Water Resources at the Ministry of Public Works and People?s Housing, Mudjiadi as saying that the government is currently drafting the necessary presidential regulation to appoint the SOEs.
The planned four hydro power plants include PLTA Karangkates IV and PLTA Karangkates V in Malang, East Java, with combined capacity of 2x50 MW; PLTA Kesamben in Blitar, East Java, with capacity of 37 MW; and PLTA Ledoyo in Blitar with capacity of 10 MW.
The government will assign SOEs in developing the hydro power plants as no private investors are interested in such project. No further details were provided. (*)
