Sonatrach and Pertamina sign a deal for partnership

A deal for cooperation and partnership was signed Saturday in Algiers Sonatrach and Indonesian state owned oil and gas company Pertamina following talks between the president of the republic Algiers, Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Indonesia president Megawati Soekarnoputri, according to Algerian agency APS.

The agreement was signed by M. Achour Bachir, Sonatrach vice-president in charge of guarantee, and M. Baihaki Hakim, president director of Pertamina, in presence of the leaders of the two countries.

The accord which includes research, exploration and production of petroleum and gas of the two countries, foresees also the development of projects in the field of gas, liquefied gas and petroleum, exchange of services, training and scientific research.

The two firms are going to sign later an agreement of purchase to Indonesia estimated to 900.000 barrels of Algerian petroleum per month, the report added.

The deal is for one year renewable. Previously, Indonesia purchases Algerian petroleum on the international market. (*)
