PT Pertamina will receive at least 100,000 bopd from Algerian's Sonatrach to supply its planned Tuban and Balongan II refineries, as part of an agreement signed by the two state owned companies recently.

?Pertamina is in cooperation with Saudi Aramco and Kuwait Petroleum to build refinery in Tuban and Balongan. Sonatrach will supply the crude for these refineries. The volume is still in discussion but, at least 100,000 bopd,? Gigih Prakoso, Pertamina VP for Corporate Strategic Planning and Transformation, told petromindo.com.

The remarks follow an announcement on Wednesday that Pertamina and Sonatrach have signed an agreement on the cooperation in upstream oil and gas sector as well as in LNG and crude oil supply, marketing and trading.

Other forms of cooperation, Gigih added, include joint bidding on upstream assets in both Indonesia and Algeria. ?There are plenty of potential oil and gas blocks in Algeria, in particular those already in production. We are after this kind of assets.?

The two firms will also cooperate in marketing of LNG in Asian and European countries. ?In fact, it?s possible that Pertamina will import LNG from Sonatrach because of our increasing domestic demand.?
