Sorik Marapi's 1st exploration well drilled in 2013

Australia-listed energy firm Origin Energy said that it would start drilling of first exploration well in Sorik Merapi geothermal project in North Sumatra province in 2013 instead of in the second half of 2012 as previously planned.
The company said in a press statement on Thursday that the exploration well would be drilled with its partners, Tata Power of India and Indonesian firm PT Supraco Indonesia. Origin has 47.5 percent interest in the geothermal concession, which has a generation capacity of 240 Megawatt.
Previously, Origin Energy reported in August 2011 that the first exploration well at the Sorik Marapi geothermal concession, which was awarded In September 2010, would be drilled in early 2012 and it was expected to start operation in June 2015.
