Sorong benefits from associated gas from Salawati

Associated gas produced from the Matoa field within the Salawati block in Papua can now be utilized for power generation in Sorong, following the operation of gas purification facility and Matoa-Canal pipeline which was inaugurated last Monday.
Sorong Regent Stevanus Malak officially presided over the inauguration ceremony, which was attended also by local administration officials and Yoseph R. Karundeng, Head of BPMIGAS Representative Office for Papua and Maluku.
The block has been operated by Joint Operating Body (JOB) Pertamina-PetroChina Salawati since 1990.
The coming on stream of the purification facility and the 12-km pipeline ? that links the Matoa field and Canal field operated by TAC Pertamina Intermega Sabaku Indonesia - allows the use of up to 5 mmscfd of associated gas for a power plant belonging to the state owned utility firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara.
