South Kalimantan Governor demand Galuh Cempaka to return diamond

Tuesday, March 20 2001 - 05:00 AM WIB

South Kalimantan Govenor Sjachriel Darham insists that PT Galuh Cempaka a subsidiary of Ashton Mining must return the diamond, which has been transferred to Jakarta to prove that it has not sold the commodity yet.

The local Banjarmasin Post daily quoted Sjachriel as saying that the administration wanted to see the honesty of the company.

Sjachriel had earlier accused Galuh Cempaka of illegally transferring and selling the diamond it obtained from the province's Banjarbaru area to Jakarta. He said that the company had no rights to transfer and sell the diamond because its license was only for exploration not exploitation.

But Galuh had said that it made the transfer only for laboratory test and not for selling purpose.(*)
