South Kalimantan illegal miners produce 4m tons of coal per year

Coal production from rampant illegal mining activities in South Kalimantan has reached an estimated 4 million tons per year, according to an industry source.
The source told Petromindo.com Thursday that the estimate figure was based on the recent survey, which had been reported to the ministry of energy and mineral resources.
The rampant illegal mining activities in South Kalimantan had created various problems including environmental destruction and income losses suffered by the administration.
The source said that the illegal mining activity in South Kalimantan had been backed up by certain individuals in the administration, and local security force.(Godang/Alex)
