South Mahakam Project inaugurated

Chairman of SKK Migas Rudi Rubiandini on Thursday officially inaugurated the operation of South Mahakam field within the Mahakam block in East Kalimantan, less than three months after the field?s start-up.
The South Mahakam Project is the development stage of three condensate fields, namely Stupa, East Mandu and Jemelai, as well as two gas fields (Jempang and Metulang), which are located about 35 km southeast of Balikpapan and 58 km south of Peciko field.
The inauguration, attended also by East Kalimantan Governor Awang Farouk, took place in the Senipah-Peciko-South Mahakam (SPS) Processing Unit, in Senipah, Kutai Kertanegara.
Gas and condensate produced is transmitted via a 67-kilometer pipeline with a diameter of 24 inches connecting Stupa platform and Senipah terminal. Production from East Mandu field will be linked with a 10-kilometer main export pipe with a diameter of 24 inches. Production from the fields is expected to average 69,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, including 18,000 barrels per day of condensate by the end of 2013.
From South Mahakam field, Total expects to produce 250-290 million metric standard cubic feet per day and 14,000 barrels of condensate per day for the next few years.
