South Mahakam project speeds ahead

Total E&P Indonesie, the operator of Mahakam block, estimated that the procurement and construction of platform facility at Jempang and Metulang fields, which is part of the South Mahakam project within the block, would be completed by the first quarter of 2015.
"Currently both fields are in the process of making various fabrication for surface facilities, transportation, installation, and piping," Head of Media Relations Department of Total E&P Indonesie, Kristanto Hartadi told Petromnindo.com on Friday.
He added that the fabrication of surface facilities is being undertaken by PT Meindo Elang Indah, while works related to transportation, installation, and piping by PT Rajawali Swiber Cakrawala.
After the fabrication and installation is completed, up next will be drilling activities in early Q2 2015.
"We hope the production will start up in Q3 2015 or second semester of 2015," Kristanto hoped.
The South Mahakam project is part of the program being implemented by Total to offset production decline impacting the Mahakam PSC.
The project envisages a phased development of three gas condensate fields (Stupa, West Stupa and East Mandu) and two gas fields (Jempang and Metulang), which are located approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Balikpapan and 58 kilometers south of the Peciko field, with water depths ranging from 45 to 60 meters.
