Coal railway connecting the Tanjung Enim coal mining site in South Sumatra and the Tarahan coal port in Lampung resumed operation on Monday, the local Sumatera Ekspres daily reported on Tuesday.
The railway was disrupted after a landslide on Sunday caused a cargo train carrying some 35 tons of coal produced by state-owned coal miner PT Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA)to slip off.
The paper quoted an official of state railway firm PT KAI, Sartimin, that workers had to work 24 hours to fix the problem.
Meanwhile, PTBA spokesman Arifmaldi Alwi said that despite the accident PTBA did not suffer serious financial loss because the company had coal stockpile at the port.
PTBA ships its coal to local and overseas buyers through the Tarahan coal terminal. (*)
