South Sumatra?s NGL project in commissioning stage

The Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) plant project in South Sumatra owned by the consortium of PT Pertagas, a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, and South Korean company Samtan Co. is now in the commissioning stage.

?It is now in commissioning stage. It is scheduled to start operation in September,? Pertagas?s President Director Gunung Sardjono Hadi told Petromindo.com on Monday.

NGL is a collective term referring heavier gaseous hydrocarbons: ethane (C2H6), propane (C3H8), normal butane (n-C4H10), isobutane (i-C4H10), pentanes and even higher molecular weight hydrocarbons after being processed and purified into finished by-products.

The US$192 million project consists of two units, that is an NGL Extraction Plant and an NGL Fractination Plant, which is located separately and connected by a 90-km pipeline, according to Pertagas? website. The main output of the plant is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The plant is designed with a capacity of 250 mmscfd and a production period of 13 years, according to the website.
