Investment firm Southridge has partnered with The Habitat Group to establish Habitat Carbon, a new platform focused on developing nature-based carbon projects across Southeast Asia.
The new entity will serve as the group’s dedicated carbon project development arm, with Joel Scriven appointed to lead the business, according to a LinkedIn post by Scriven.
Southridge’s Indonesian unit, PT Southridge Utama Nusantara, will continue to operate as the on-the-ground technical and operational arm of Habitat Carbon.
In his post, Scriven said the new platform builds on Southridge’s existing track record in developing nature-based solutions across Southeast Asia and will expand project development activities in the region.

The company will continue advancing its existing pipeline, including the Pahang Peatland Restoration Project in Malaysia, which is undergoing validation and first verification and has been selected as part of the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s WALD Innovation Facility programme for 2025–2027.
Habitat Carbon aims to develop projects across ecosystems such as peatlands, mangroves and tropical forests, which play a role in carbon sequestration and are increasingly integrated into global carbon markets.
