SPC Mahakam Hilir drills exploration well in Samarinda

Singapura Petroleum Company (SPC) Mahakam Hilir Pte Ltd has begun drilling activities at the company?s first exploration well Naga Utara 1 in Sambutan village near Samarinda, East Kalimantan, the upstream authority BPMIGAS said in a press release published on its website.

The company?s general manager spokesman Soemarinda said in Samarinda on Monday that the drilling which was begun at the end of December would be carried out at the depth of 1,700 meter. He hoped all the drilling works at the first exploration well could be completed in two months.

?We expect there is oil & gas reserve," he said.

SPC Mahakam Hilir, an energy company based in Singapore, became the first company to conduct exploration activities in Samarinda. According to the local investment office, the company has spent about Rp 450 billion to support its exploration activities in the province.

Budi Agustyono, the head of the local office of BPMigas, said that his office strongly supported SPC?s exploration activities in Samarinda. He also appreciated the support given by local people to the company?s exploration activities.
