SPC, partners start drilling at Kakap?s Lukah-1X exploration well

Singaporean oil firm Singapore Petroleum Company Limited (SPC) announced Wednesday it together with partners in the Kakap Production Sharing Contract had commenced exploration drilling of the Lukah-1X well.

SPC said in a statement that the Lukah-1X is located in the southern part of block or about 2.4 kilometers southeast of the block?s oil producing KG field.

SPC said the Lukah-1X will be drilled to test various formations within a three-way dip closure against the north-south trending fault. The well is anticipated to be drilled to a total depth of 2,243 meters subsea and will take approximately 30 days.

The Kakap PSC, which is operated by Star Energy, is located in the West Natuna Sea. The PSC consists of two zones, namely North Kakap and South Kakap. There are currently seven producing oil and gas fields in South Kakap.

SPC holds a 15 percent interest in Kakap PSC. (Robert)
