Spindo inaugurates new production facility

IDX-listed steel pipe maker PT Steel Pipe Industry of Indonesia (Spindo) inaugurated on Tuesday the operation of a new production unit with annual capacity of 60,000 tons at its plant in Karawang, West Java.

Deputy President Director Tedja Sukmana Hudianto said that the new facility forms part of the company?s expansion drive to meet growing domestic demand.

He added that the company has allocated US$100 million to finance expansion programs until 2018 as it seeks to meet demand from infrastructure development and oil and gas industry in the country.

Spindo, which expects sales volume this year to reach 385,000 tons, plans to build a new production facility in Gresik, East Java.(*)
