Star Energy interested to purchase ExxonMobil units

Oil and gas company PT Star Energy said it is interested to acquire three business units of ExxonMobil Corporation in Indonesia, which are being offered to potential buyers.

Brett Mattes, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Star Energy, said that his company is interested to buy the ExxonMobil business units as they are still offering bright prospects.

?It is possible Exxon is no longer interested to develop those business units. However, for us, they are still attractive,? he was quoted by Investor Daily as saying.

Star Energy is interested to acquire Arun field, satellite fields A & D and Phase A & B in onshore Arun, as well as North Sumatera Offshore field.

Star Energy is competing with other oil and companies in purchasing those assets, including PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk.

The key shareholders of Star Energy were PT Barito Pacific Tbk, owned by tycoon Prajogo Pangestu, which controls 40 percent shares in the company and Ashmore Group holding 30 percent. (*)
