Star Energy has planned to carry out the seismic survey for its new Sebatik Block, East Kalimantan in February next year.

Company president Supramu Santosa also said on Thursday that exploration activities at the block were expected to start in 2007.

The firm was named by the goverment last month as the winner of the block which was among the eight blocks offered by the goverment through the so-called "direct offer" mechanism.

Supramu said he expected to sign the contract on the block in the end of this month.

Supramu also said that the firm had targeted to produce around 58 million cubic feet of gas and 7,700 barrels of oil per day from its Kakap block in South Natuna. Gas from the block is exported to Singapore through a pipeline.

He added that Star Energy planned to drill one exploration well in Kakap block in the end of 2005. (dino)
