After losing to a regional administration-owned company in the tender for Kaldera Danau Banden geothermal power plant, Star Energy will participate in another bid for geothermal working field this year.

"Our commitment is to become a big player in geothermal," the company's president director Sanusi Satar said.

Several geothermal working fields will be put on tender, such as the Bonjol geothermal power plant in West Sumatra which will generate 200 MW, Dana Rantau power plant in West Lampung (210 MW), Mataloko plant in East Nusa Tenggara (63 MW), Ciremai plant in Garut, West Java (150 MW) and Mt. Endut plant in Serang (80 MW).

"We will evaluate which working field is prospective," he said.

Meanwhile drilling work at Jailolo geothermal working field will start at the end of the year, he added. The location of the well will follow a feasibility study which is expected to finish in June.

The Jailolo geothermal power plant will sell its electricity at Rp 1,700/Kwh. But the price will have to be negotiated with state power company PLN in accordance with the ministerial regulation No. 2/2011issued by the energy minister. (bernard)
