State audit agency to audit Pertamina?s crude purchase

State Audit Agency (BPK) will soon launch an audit into the procurement process of crude products by state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina to detect irregularities, Media Indonesia daily reported on Thursday.

BPK?s chief Anwar Nasution told the press on Wednesday that the audit would be carried on the procurement of crude oil and processed fuels from foreign suppliers, the appointment procedures of fuel distributors including those for military uses, and the pricing policy of fuel products sold by Pertamina.

?The audit will be made to meet the request of DPR (House of Representatives),? Anwar said following a meeting with the chairman of the People?s Consultative Council (MPR), Hidayat Nur Wahid.

In the meeting, the MPR chairman expressed his strong support on BPK?s plan to audit Pertamina. (*)
