Statoil completes C. Kalimantan joint study, eyeing block acquisition

Norwegian oil, gas firm Statoil said it has just completed joint study at Kasongan in Central Kalimantan.

? Further evaluation will be conducted and if the result is prospective, then we will propose to the government that the block will be put on direct proposal bidding,? Wawan Koswara, Statoil Indonesia Government and Public Affairs Manager told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday.

Under the direct offer mechanism, Statoil which carried out the joint study, will have first right to win the exploration blocks should the government decides to put the said blocks under bidding.

Wawan said the company is also evaluating possibility to acquire interest in a block. He did not give detail.
