Having completed drilling two exploration wells, Anoman-1 and Anoman-2, Statoil of Norway and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) plan to drill a third well in their deepwater Karama block in the Makassar Strait.
PHE President Director Salis Aprilian said the drilling would take place in July.
The Karama Block is operated by Statoil with a 51 percent interest with PHE holding the rest.
The Karama block covers 4,286 sq km of 800-2,200 meter water-depth, south of the Kuma block, offshore West Sulawesi, where Statoil has a 40 percent interest.
Salis did not mention the results of the drillings at the first two wells, but a source at upstream authority BPMIGAS has told petromindo.com that the drillings of the two wells hit dry hole.
